TWO separate buy-bust operations in Western Visayas on Sunday evening and early morning yesterday resulted in the arrest of three known ‘high-value drug targets’ and the confiscation of some P7.4 million worth of shabu, the biggest drug haul so far in Panay Island this year, Police Regional Office 6 director, Brigadier General Rene P. Pamuspusan said.
In a report to Philippine National Police chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, the official said that arrested during the sting in Barangay Ungka 2 in Pavia, Iloilo were Jennifer Nosotros,42; and her 20-year old son named John Rey, a criminology student, after they conspired to sell shabu to an undercover officer in front of the GT Mall around 6 p.m. Sunday.
Pamuspusan said that the two suspects, both residents of Bgy. Buntalala in Jaro, Iloilo City yielded 14 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around 535 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P6.3 million, the buy-bust money topped by several marked bills, bundles of plastic sachets and a digital weighing scale.
The PRO6 director said that Jennifer is the older sister of Jovan Abantao, a convicted ‘HVT’ now serving time at the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City. Pamuspusan said that members of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office headed by Colonel Roland A. Vilela conducted the operations.
He said that the arresting officers from the Iloilo PPO’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and the Pavia Municipal Police Station headed respectively by Majors Jonathan Pinuela and Jojo Tabaloc will be receiving awards for their conduct of the successful anti-narcotics operation.
Pamuspusan said that another buy-bust operation in Zone 15, Bgy. Calaparan, Arevalo, Iloilo City around 1 a.m. yesterday led in the arrest of 56-year old Lalaine Ereño after she sold drugs to an undercover officer.
Seized from the suspect’s possession were 15 plastic sachets containing some P1.125 million worth of shabu, two mobile phones and the P20,500 worth of buy-bust money.
“So far, this is the biggest worth of shabu hauled in Panay Island,” said Pamuspusan who has ordered all Western Visayas police units to go after known ‘HVT’s or those included in the list of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the PNP Directorate for Intelligence.
