P8.6M shabu seized in Quezon drug sting

LUCENA CITY — Police on Tuesday arrested two suspected drug peddlers and seized 425 grams of suspected shabu worth P8,670,000 in a drug buy-bust at Purok Villa Verde, Bgy. Ibabang Dupay, this city.

Quezon police director Col. Audie Madrideo said newly-identified “high- value” target Mary Jane  Pamatmat, 30, a native of Nagcarlan, Laguna and a resident of the village, and Niel Carlo Tolentino, 24, of Bico Subdivision. Bgy. Malabanban Norte, Candelaria, Quezon were arrested after receiving the marked money.

In a report to Calabarzon police director Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao, Madrideo said the buy-bust was carried out by joint elements of the Lucena City police station under Lt. Col. Romulo Albacea, Provincial Intelligence Branch under Maj. Gaylor Pagala and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Quezon at 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

Madrideo said the suspects were arrested after receiving 20 marked P1,000 from the poseur buyer.

The official said the illegal drugs were contained in four knot-tied transparent plastic bags and two heat- sealed plastic sachets.

Also seized were a coin purse, a weighing scale, a disposable lighter and a small scissors.

Charges for violation of Sections  5 and 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were being prepared for filing against the suspects.

Danao hailed Madrideo and his men and the PDEA for the job well done.
