PAO helping PNP, NBI solve Silawan brutal killing

April 02, 2019

CHIEF Public Attorney Dr. Persida Rueda Acosta  yesterday said they will be filing a supplemental case against suspects in the killing of Christine Lee Silawan.

Acosta, who was in Cebu,  said they will base their supplemental case on the result of the autopsy that members of their forensic team conducted on Silawan and eyewitness accounts.

According to her, they have “very credible” witnesses that will ensure conviction of two to three suspects in Silawan’s rape-slay.

“We will solve this case as soon as possible. We will file a case within this month in support of the investigation of the PNP and NBI,” Acosta said.

It was not immediately known if the 17-year-old suspect who was earlier arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas ordered rearrested by President Rodrigo Duterte  was among the suspects that they have identified in their investigation.

Acosta said that PAO is coordinating with the Lapu-Lapu City police in the conduct of a manhunt operation against the perpetrators of Silawan’s brutal killing.

Dr. Erwin Erfe, chief of the PAO forensic team, confirmed that Silawan was raped before she was killed.

Erfe said they saw signs of abrasion and hematoma on Silawan’s private parts during an autopsy which they conducted a day before she was buried on March 23.

They also found out that Silawan’s face was burned using sulfuric acid.

Silawan’s half-naked body was found at a vacant lot in Bgy. Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City early morning on March 11 or a few hours after she was last seen alive with her former boyfriend who is also a minor.
