Pawnshop man faces theft raps

SAN JOSE CITY – Theft charges have been slapped against an employee of a local pawnshop here after the management conducted an audit and learned that he allegedly stole at least more than P80,000 in cash from its vaults last December, police said yesterday.

City police head Supt. Marco Dadez identified the suspect as Welhel Alexander Tomas Jr., resident of Zone 3, Bgy. Tayabo, and an employee at the LG Infante Pawnshop located in Bonifacio St., Bgy. Rafael Rueda Sr.

Investigation showed the theft incident was discovered on December 8 after Roberto Infante, 64, owner of LG Pawnshop, a resident of Zone 11, Bgy. Abar 1st, ordered an audit and later found out that the said suspect who is in charge of the pawnshop stole the amount of P81,400 from the vaults.

Dadez said a charge of qualified theft has been filed against the suspect before the city prosecutor’s office here.
