PDEA captures 22, seizes P.8M drugs in countryside operations

UNMINDFUL of the deadly threats of being exposed to the COVID-19 virus, agents of of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency are continuing their crackdown on illicit drug trafficking and abuse in the country, PDEA chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino said yesterday.

This week, Aquino said that his men, with the assistance of operatives from the Philippine National Police arrested 22 known drug personalities and seized over P800,000 worth of shabu and marijuana in a series of anti-narcotics operations in the countryside.

He said that 16 of the suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Central Visayas which led in the dismantling of two notorious drug dens and the confiscation of over P265,000 worth of the so-called ‘poor mans cocaine.’

The official identified the arrested suspects as known drug dive maintainers Erickson Larrobis, Resalito Comad and Editha Labarador and their ‘visitors’ Marcelino Humad, Brandon Eleccion, Rjleyca Oca, Jodel delos Reyes, Rogelio Bernadit, Joselito Comad, Jeremy Sabroso, Guy Gipatalagan, Rosa Olpos, Rynie Duran, Pepito Aningalan, Ronel Aningalan and Ruel Ellema.

Larrobis, Humad, Eleccion, Oca, delos Reyes, Bernadit, Sabroso, Gipatalagan and  the two Comads were arrested during a buy-bust operation  in Sitio Abbya, Barangay Mambaling in Cebu City last Friday.

Seized during the operation were 88 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing  some 27 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at P184,000, several drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.

Another sting in Purok Tangigue in Bgy. Piapi, Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental on Sunday led in the arrest of Labrador, Olpos, Duran, Ellema, and the two Aningalans, who yielded 17 plastic sachets containing around 12 grams of shabu worth P82,000, various drug paraphernalia and marked money.

In Davao Oriental, PDEA Region 11 operatives arrested Diomedes Basingan, Alfredo Manginlaud and Bonifacio Dadang on charges of cultivating marijuana in Sitio Lumba in Bgy. Binondo, Banganga municipality.

Aquino said recovered during the operation in Banganga were 277 fully-grown marijuana plants worth nearly P54,000 and a 12-gauge home-made shotgun with a live ammunition.

In Cebu City, local PDEA officers arrested two known ‘high-value targets’ identified as Charles Ian Jasper Nadel and Joyced Guzman during a sting in Bgy. Calamba last Saturday which yielded an estimated P340,000 worth of shabu.

Aquino said the suspects were arrested during a sting at no. 226 Dead End Sun Valley, V. Rama Avenuye in Bgy. Calamba. Recovered from their possession were two plastic sachets containing some 50 grams of shabu and the marked money they received from the poseur.

In La Union, PDEA Region 1 operatives last Tuesday arrested the no. 6 most wanted drug personality in Ilocos-Pangasinan region. The suspect identified as Bernard Colet alias ‘Pogi’ was arrested during the sting in Bgy. 4, Poblacion, San Fernando City.

The suspect yielded nine plastic sachets containing around six grams of shabu worth P40,000 and the buy-bust money.
