AGENTS of the Philippine National Police - Highway Patrol Group early Saturday morning arrested the 3rd most wanted car thief in the country in a manhunt operation in a far-flung village in Ilocos Norte.
PNP-HPG director Brig. Gen. Roberto Fajardo identified the suspect as Nathaniel Patricio, the subject of a warrant of arrest for syndicated estafa, with no bail recommended.
Members of the PNP-HPG Intelligence Division headed by Col. Gil Francis Tria managed to track down the elusive suspect aided by information from a tipster that he was sighted in Laoag City.
A team of officers organized by Tria coordinated with Ilocos Norte HPG agents led by Majors Rufino Noog and Romeo Saguilot to locate the suspect, with the help of the Solsona and Dingras Municipal Police Stations.
Fajardo said that the suspect was finally tracked down in his hiding place in the upland barangay of San Francisco in Sitio Mabino, Dingras, Ilocos Norte shortly after 2 a.m. on Saturday.
Under heavy guard to prevent the possibility that the suspect’s supporters may rescue him, Patricio was taken by heavily-armed policemen to the Ilocos Norte Provincial Highway Patrol Office prior to his transfer to the PNP-HPG headquarters in Camp Crame for further debriefing and turnover to court.
