AGENTS of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) around 4 p.m. Saturday rescued four Malaysian nationals believed to have been kidnapped by a group of foreigners working for a POGO hub in San Pedro City in Laguna, PNP-AKG director, Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo announced yesterday.
In a report to PNP chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, the official said that victims Tan Hang Yi, Kho Soon Chiang, Cheam Chun Keat and Jonathan Ting Zhi Haw were rescued inside the known POGO hub in J. Sotto Streeet, Chrystanthemum Village in Bgy. Chrysanthemum in San Pedro City in Laguna following a tip from the Philippine Center for Transnational Crime and Interpol Manila.
Estomo said that the PCTC and Interpol Manila sought their assistance to rescue the four Malaysians who were reportedly kidnapped and being asked to produce a huge amount of ransom by their abductors.
He said that PNP-AKG officers led by Colonel Edward Cutiyog and Majors Lowerber Ceralvo and Ronaldo Lumactod Jr. managed to locate the whereabouts of the four Southeast Asian nationals and rescued them.
Estomo said that the four were immediately taken to the PNP-AKG headquarters in Camp Crame for background investigation.
