THE Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday said it has an “airtight” case against the “mastermind” and suspects in the murder of Ako Bicol Representative Rodel Batocabe and his escort SPO2 Orlando Diaz.
“As far as we are concerned, we have a very tight case so far against all the suspects including the mastermind,” PNP-Public Information Office head Chief Supt. Benigno “Bong “ Durana said.
“We are confident that we have solved the case but as far as we are concerned it is not yet closed,” Durana added.
“It is standard practice in any investigation that we cannot just close it after the arrest of the suspects to make sure “there are no loose ends.”
On Saturday, the PNP announced the arrest of six suspects in the murder of Batocabe.
They were Rolando Nonsol Arimado, 50, of Villa Hermosa, Daraga, Albay; former soldier Danilo Muella; a discharged soldier and alleged trusted security aide of Mayor Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo; former militiaman Emmanuel Rosello; the alleged gunman, rebel returnee Henry Yuson; and former Army member Jaywin Babor.
The PNP said the suspects tagged Baldo as the alleged mastermind of the killing.
