PHILIPPINE National Police Anti- Cyber Crime Group clarified that as of this date there was no court case filed yet against Mayor Dino Chua of Noveleta, Cavite that could result to his arrest. “It’s not a case yet, We haven’t received any summons or any copy of the said complaint yet.” said Atty. Harry Roque, lawyer for Mayor Chua.
According to the report from the Office of B/Gen. Bernard Banac, Public Information Officer of Philippine National Police, the complaint was submitted on March 27, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. to the Cavite City Prosecutor’s Office with assisting lawyer accompanied by Cavite City Mayor Bernardo “Totie” Paredes.
According to Roque, former presidential spokespeson and lawyer for Mayor Chua, the prosecutor’s office is yet to decide on the merit of the case after the preliminary investigation and shall determine if there’s a probable cause before it can be properly filed in court.
Mayor Paredes filed a complaint against Mayor Chua for allegedlh spreading fake COVID-19 news in Cavite City but Mayor Chua accused the complainant as playing dirty politics using the newly enacted law of President Rodrigo Duterte , the ‘Bayanihan heal as one Act’ that prohibits the spreading of covid19 fake news.
Meanwhile, Mayor Chua also said that he is now coordinating with his lawyer, Roque to prepare his answer and to file countercharges against Mayor Paredes.
