THE Philippine National Police (PNP) is ready to respond to any looting incident that may happen during the month-long enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
This was the assurance of PNP Deputy Chief for Operations Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar.
Eleazar said that the PNP has prepared contingency plans for any possible scenarios during the quarantine, or if ever there are cases of looting due to hunger.
He added that the national government is aware of the possibilities, as well as the local government units, that’s why they are focusing on addressing these.
He also said that different departments are already discussing possible scenarios that may emerge such as looting.
He noted that the number of crime reports has gone down since the implementation of the Luzon-wide quarantine.
Eleazar also said that the circulating news of robbery incidents online are false, and that they are now tracing those who spread the misinformation.
