CABANATUAN CITY -- This province which gave the biggest margin of victory to Fernando Poe Jr. when he ran for president in 2004 remains as an “FPJ country.”
This after FPJ’s daughter, independent reelectionist senator Grace Poe topped the senatorial race in Nueva Ecija during last Monday’s polls.
Poe, also the province’s top senatorial vote-getter in 2013, garnered a total of 634,915 votes based on 100 percent of the unofficial election results transmitted to the Commission on Elections server as of 12:04 p.m. yesterday.
Aside from Poe, nine bets from the Hugpong ng Pagbabago and one each from the Nationalist People’s Coalition and the United Nationalist Alliance also made it to the so-called “Magic 12.”
Reelectionist senator Cynthia Villar of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s HNP, was at second spot with 560,766 votes, followed by the third-ranked Lapid, of NPC with 544,858 votes.
Binay, of UNA, who was at seventh place, obtained 443,759 votes.
The other seven HNP bets, who made it to the Magic 12 were: Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos (4th-487,073 votes), senator Edgardo “Sonny” Angara (5th-466,153), former Sen. Pia Cayetano (6th-463,584), Bong Revilla Jr. (8th-428,485), former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go (9th-420,250), and Senator JV Ejercito (10th-404,264).
Former senator Jinggoy Estrada, also of HNP, who was number one in the province in 2004 and 2010, was ranked behind Ejercito at 11th with 391,118 votes.
The 12th spot went to former PNP chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, who garnered 380,537 votes.
Otso Diretcho opposition bet, re-electionist Bam Aquino came in at 13th place with 337,759 votes while two other HNP bets, former political adviser Francis Tolentino and senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III were at 14th and 15th spots, with 308,460 and 278,548 votes, respectively.
Atty. Dado Padilla, the province’s lone senatorial bet was ranked 26th, obtaining 75,788 votes.
