Police chief, 3 others sacked over death of mayor’s son

LUCENA City -- Quezon police director Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman yesterday ordered the relief of a city police chief and three other police officers involved in an alleged shootout that left a Quezon mayor’s son and bodyguard dead.

Tayabas City police director Supt. Mark Joseph Laygo was removed from his post for command responsibility. He was replaced by Supt. Roderick Tonga.

Also relieved were PO3 Christopher John Siman, PO1 Perry  Malabaguio and PO1 William Allan Ricamonte, all assigned at the Public Assistance Center.

Siman, Malabaguio and Ricamonte were involved in an alleged encounter that left Christian Gayeta, 21-year-old son of Sariaya, Quezon Mayor Marcelo Gayeta, and his body guard Christopher Manalo, 38, dead in Bgy. Calumpang, this City last Thursday.

The relief order was to assure the public of a fair and impartial investigation.

The relieved policemen were assigned at the Provincial Holding Administrative Section at the Quezon police provincial office headquarters in Lucena City.
