A TOWN councilor who is a staunch supporter of Pampanga Vice-Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda was killed by two unidentified assailants in Barangay Sta. Rita, Sasmuan, Pampanga at around 6 a.m. yesterday.
Pampanga acting police director Senior Supt. Nicanor Salvador identified the victim as Jesus “Boyet” Angeles, a resident of said place.
Salvador said the victim was doing his early morning exercises along Sitio Dalan Bapor in the said barangay when attacked by the suspects who were armed with a handgun and a bladed weapon.
Police said the suspects approached the victim and without a word stabbed him in the body several times. After he fell to the ground, the other suspect with a handgun pumped bullets into his head to finish him off.
Witnesses said the suspects fled towards an unknown direction.
Residents rushed the victim to a nearby hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending doctor.
Probers said the victim suffered eight stab wounds and gunshots in different parts of the body.
Pineda, chair of the political party KAMBILAN in Pampanga, condemned the senseless killing which tainted the prevailing peace and order in the province.
He said the victim was eyeing the vice-mayoralty position in the midyear election on May 2019.
