ANGELES CITY – A pretty employee of a skin-whitening company on Sunday was killed and cut into several pieces by her jealous boyfriend in her apartment in this city.
Acting city police director Sr. Supt. Narvin Mangune identified the victim as Lindsey Avelino, a 28-year-old, single sales agent and a native of Cagayan residing at Purok 2 in Bgy. Amsic, this city.
Suspect Eduardo Pasion, 40, married, a miniature airplane replica maker and a resident of Bgy. Sta. Teresita, Angeles City, was killed in a firefight with lawmen in a follow-up operation on Sunday night.
The neighbors said before the gruesome murder, they heard the lovers quarreling at 10 a.m. on Sunday. The next day, they saw Pasion came out of the apartment and carrying a black luggage. He looked anxious as he locked the door using two steel padlocks.
The owner of the apartment told People’s Journal that she heard noises coming from the victim’s apartment unit on Sunday night. The owner said somebody inside turned up the sound of the television.
Mangune said police discovered the gruesome murder after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen. They immediately conducted a follow-up operation.
Police went to the suspect’s workplace in Bgy. Pampang but found him in an abandoned house.
Pasion, after seeing the approaching policemen, fired at the officers while trying to escape.
A policeman was hit in the body but was fortunate to be wearing a bullet-proof vest and was not hurt.
Recovered near the suspect’s body were a cal. 9mm pistol with six live ammunition and two empty shells.
Authorities searched the abandoned house and found a black luggage. When they opened the bag, they were shocked to see the head, feet, calves and arms of the victim.
An investigation showed Avelino had been enduring physical abuse from the suspect and wanted to leave him. She decided to live with another man who had been providing her financial needs.
Angered, the jealous suspect stabbed, killed and chopped up Avelino.
Responding policemen found at the crime scene a knife and a hammer used by the suspect in mutilating the victim.
It was learned that in December last year, Avelino filed complaints for physical abuse against the suspect.
