PRO12 jails 600 most wanted

OVER 600 persons wanted for various criminal offenses in Socksargen region have been hauled to jail by agents of the Police Regional Office 12 last January in line with their effort to account for all felons in the region, PRO12 director, Brigadier General Alfred S. Corpus said yesterday.

In a report to Philippine National Police chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, the PRO12 director said that  out of the 582 suspects, 39 were most wanted persons while 200 were regular wanted persons. Another 343 were locked up in jails across the region as a result of warrantless arrests.

Corpus said that the Cotabato Police Provincial Office accounted for the most number of most wanted persons while the Sarangani PPO jailed 147 others.

““We are intensifying our operations against wanted persons in line with Gen. Gamboa’s priority program to arrest drugs and all forms of criminality in the country. We also remain firm in our stance to put these criminals behind bars in order to eliminate the threat they pose to the society,” the official said.

Since the start of February, PRO12 operatives have also jailed scores of wanted persons in the region.

Among them were six persons wanted for various felonies including a senior citizen from Tantangan, South Cotabato wanted for rape and a minor accused of attempted murder in the province. All were arrested last Monday.

Corpus said that Lodovico Aguilar, a 67-year old laborer from Purok Spring, Barangay Tinongcop in Tantangan municipality was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for rape issued by a local court. The suspect was tagged as the 4th most wanted person in the municipality prior to his arrest.

On the other hand, the minor whose name was withheld was arrested in Sitio Surba, Bgy. Cinco, Banga, South Cotabato on the basis of a warrant of arrest for attempted murder issued by Judge Vicente Peña of the Surallah Regional Trial Court Branch 45. A P120,000 bail was recommended for the suspect’s liberty.  

The other suspects were wanted for estafa, theft and violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Corpus also announced the arrest of three most wanted persons in Sultan Kudarat on the same day. He said that Razzel Canta,30, a man wanted for rape and listed as the 9th most wanted person in Sultan Kudarat was tracked down in his residence in Bgy. Namat in Palimbang town.
