PRO12 records continuing crime rate reduction

THE Police Regional Office 12 yesterday said they continue to register a downtrend in all major crimes in Soccskargen amid their intensified enforcement of the enhanced quarantine control in the region since last March 15.

PRO12 director, Brigadier General Alfred S. Corpus said that from March 15 to April 15, they have recorded a 50.22 percent total crime reduction amid the region-wide lockdown and implementation of quarantine procedures vis-à-vis with their anti-criminality measures.

Corpus said overall, Focused Crimes which include murder, homicide, robbery, theft, physical injury, motor vehicle and motorcycle theft and rape have gone down by 64.91 percent compared to figures during the same period in 2019.

The official said Index and Non-Index Crimes in the region went down to 671 compared to the 1,093 recorded from March 15-April 15 last year or a 38.61 percent reduction.

The official said on Thursday, two known drug personalities in the region were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Polomolok, South Cotabato.

He identified the two as Kalvin Dayonot,27; and Mary Juzel Pacifico,30.

Corpus also reported the arrest of 32 persons violating the ECQ protocls across the region last Wednesday. He said that the 32 were arrested either for violating curfew hours, for  violating provisions of the quarantine pass issued to them by their respective barangays, for drinking in public, loitering or for not wearing face masks in public.
