CAMP Brig. Gen. Paciano Rizal, Sta. Cruz, Laguna -- A drug pusher operating in Los Baños and neighboring places was killed in a gunfight with cops conducting a buy-bust operation on Monday.
Senior Supt. Kirby John Kraft, police provincial director, identified the suspect as Raymund Maquidato, alias ‘Emon’, of Silangan St., Purok 2, Bgy. Bayog, Los Baños, who yielded a cal. .38 revolver, a sachet of shabu and a scooter.
The suspect was contacted by a police poseur-buyer for a drug deal in an undisclosed place in Bgy. Bayog at 11:55 p.m. on suggestion of the suspect.
‘Emon’, who has long been wanted by police for his drug pushing activity, emerged from a dark portion of the street and called his buyer. The suspect was on his motorcycle so he could escape quickly if the transaction failed. But he was blocked by the cops. He pulled out a gun from his waist and fired at the cops who retaliated and killed him on the spot.
Meanwhile in Bgy. Pansol, Calamba City, the same police anti-drug operations netted drug suspects identified as Luis Geverjuan Marcelo, Cherry Ann Eduardo Tarazona, Restituto Sedan Capucino, Rodelio Pamplona de Leon and Apolinario Magpantay Dimaano.
Calamba policemen conducted an operation at 2 p.m. in the said place when Dimaano fired his gun at the operating unit. He was shot and taken to JP Hospital.
Police said they confiscated nine sachets of shabu and a cal. .38 revolver with two empty bullets and three live ammunition for the gun.
