LUCENA City -- A suspected drug pusher, who resisted arrest during a drug buy bust operation being conducted by police operatives, ended up dead in Block 6, Bgy. Bocohan, here, Monday night.

Quezon police director Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman identified the slain suspect as Joseph Querejero Villamin, 36, jobless, of Block 12, Lot 2, Welmanville Subd. at said village.

De Guzman said the operation was carried out at 8:10 p.m. by City Drug Enforcement Unit and Intelligence operatives of Lucena City Police Station under Supt. Reydante Ariza, the newly-installed city police director.

Shortly before the shootout, De Guzman said the police officer who acted as poseur-buyer, together with a confidential informant, was able to buy a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu from the suspect in exchange for a marked P500 bill.

When the operatives were about to effect the arrest, De Guzman said the suspect quickly resisted by pulling a revolver and subsequently opened fire at the lawmen.

He said the operatives were forced to retaliate by firing back, killing the suspect on the spot.

De Guzman said Scene of the Operatives from Quezon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office who processed the crime scene recovered a cal. .38 revolver and two more plastic sachets from the suspect’s pocket.

He said the accounting of evidence was witnessed by village officials and a media representative.
