Quezon cops held 2, seize P300K shabu, marijuana

LUCENA CITY— Joint police teams seized a bulk of shabu and dried marijuana leaves leading to the arrest of two suspected drug pushers including a young son of a former policeman in two consecutive anti- drug stings at Purok Damayan 1, Bgy. Ibabang Iyam, here,  shortly before and right after midnight yesterday.  

Lucena City police chief, Lt. Col. Romulo Albacea said  Domingo de Guzman, 42, and John Marin, 21, son of a retired cop who died in a road accident, both residents of said village were caught red-handed with marked money they received from poseur buyers during the separate operation.

Albacea said the operation were carried out by his City Drug Enforcement Unit along with operatives of Provincial Intelligence Branch and representative from Phil. Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 4A.

The city police chief said the lawmen seized 4 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 11.82 grams of shabu with street value of P241,128 from De Guzman at 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Sixteen large zip-locked sachets containing around 502 grams of cannabis leaves worth P60,240 were confiscated from Marin at 12:10 a.m. yesterday, he said.

Marin managed to run away from the cops but was eventually cornered and arrested.

The anti-drug stings were witnessed by village officials and a media representative.

The suspects were charged with violations of Sec. 5 of Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
