Quezon COVID-19 cases balloon to 36 with 20 health workers infected

LUCENA CITY --  In just two days, 11 more confirmed coronavirus desease (COVID-19) cases were recorded in Quezon province from Monday to Tuesday (April 14), bringing the number of cases to 36.

In its 12 noon bulletin, the Quezon Public Information Office (IPHO) under Ma. Janet Geneblazo Buelo announced that of the 36 cases, five came from this city, two from Tayabas City, two from Pagbilao town, 1 from Candelaria town and one from Real town in Northern Quezon.

On Monday, seven cases were added to 25 previous cases recorded on Sunday while an additional four were recorded today (Tuesday).

It was learned from other sources that the latest four  cases, three from this city and one from Tayabas City are all health workers, bringing the total number of the affected sector to 20.

Being the area with 14,  the biggest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, a massive contact tracing is continuously being done.

City Mayor Roderick Alcala said they also keep on isolating those who were identified and those who voluntarily surfaced to the authorities.

To support the executive department of the city government, the  Sangguniang Panlunsod led by presiding officer - Pro- Temporae Sunshine Abcede-Llaga held a special session and approved the utilization of P74 million Unexpended Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund for critical, urgent and appropriate response to COVID-19.
