LUCENA CITY--- One more patient under investigation (PUI) tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) bringing to 19 the total number of confirmed infected persons in Quezon province, according to provincial officials.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Quezon Public Information Office (QPIO) said the latest patient is a resident of Unisan, Quezon where two more confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded.
QPIO did not provide any details but Unisan Mayor Ferdinand Adulta disclosed that the patient is a female midwife who had a direct contact with another patient in the town who also tested positive carrier of the dreaded respiratory disease.
Unisan is the hometown of Quezon Governor Danilo Suarez his wife, 3rd Dist. Rep. Aleta Suarez, son, 2nd Dist. Rep. David Suarez and daughter-in-law Alona Partylist Rep. Anna Villaraza- Suarez.
QPIO announced at 11a.m. that there are already 391 PUIs in the province, 6 of which have already died.
Of the figure, 35 are still admitted in different medical facilities and 88 have been discharged. while 105 are still on home quarantine and the remaining 107 have already been cleared.
Meanwhile, Lucena City Mayor Roderick Alcala announced that most of the 66 persons who availed of the swab testing have turned negative for COVID-19.
It can be recalled that Alcala ordered a massive and tight contact tracing at Purok Bagong Sinag in Bgy. Cotta where a contruction worker who had a drinking spree with his neighbors and closed contacts with fellow workers tested positive for the virus.
With the mayor's quick action, 34 individuals were identified and eventually isolated at Grand Riviera Hotel for quarantine after undergoing swab testing.
Business tycoon Lucio Co who owns Grand Riviera had allowed the City Government to temporarily use the hotel for its isolation facility.
Alcala said the 34 individuals along with 8 others housed at the hotel all tested negative for the virus while the rest are still awaiting for the test results.
