LUCENA CITY -- Apart from the 38 confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Quezon yesterday, 3 more carriers of the deadly virus were added today (Thursday), officials said.

Citing reports from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), the Quezon Public Information Office (QPIO) headed by Ma.Janet Geneblazo Buelo announced in its 10 a.m. bulletin the additional 3 cases coming from the city of Tayabas and towns of Calauag and Lopez.

The QPIO did not provide other details.

Based on IPHO records, Tayabas now has 7 confirmed cases, Calauag has 2 while Lopez has its very first case.

The 31 other cases came from this city with 14, Candelaria with 4, 3 cases each in Unisan and Sariaya,  Pagbilao with 2 and 1 case each in the towns of Sampaloc, Infanta, Tiaong, Pitogo and Real.

On Wednesday, IPHO under Dr. Grace Santiago had recorded two more COVID-19 cases with 1 death incident bringing the number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities to 6.

Apart from the 6, there are 16 death incidents among the provinces' more than 600 patients under investigation (PUIs).

As to the number of PUIs,  updated report is still unavailable due to the ongoing reclassification of all its collected data as ordered recently by  the Department of Health (DOH).

The health department had ordered to stop using the terms “patients under investigation” and “patients under monitoring” to categorize COVID-19 cases.

Those under watch will soon be called “confirmed,” “suspect” and “probable” cases.
