Quezon police nab 82 ECQ violators, seize 178k shabu overnight

LUCENA CITY--- As a result of continuing enforcement of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) rule and local ordinances, at least 82  violators were apprehended while some P100,000 worth of shabu was seized in an overnight anti- crimimality operation carried out by Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO) on Saturday.

Quezon province as of this morning has 48 confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, mostly in this city, with six deaths.

Quezon police director, Col. Audie Madrideo said aside from ECQ rule, some of the arrested individuals violated Executive Order 21 (An order placing the Province of Quezon under Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine in view of COVID-19 Pandemic).

Of the 82, Madrideo said 18 violated RA 11332, 12 violated the RPC Art. 151, while 2 violated RA 11469.

He said 2 persons were held for unjust vexations and oral defamation, 1 for illegal gambling (PD 1602), 3 for violations of curfew hours and 3 for violations of RA 9165 while 41 violators were issued citation tickets.

Madrideo said Tayabas City police station under Major Mark Amat, conducted a drug buy bust operation at Brgy. Mateuna which resulted in the arrest of Michael EM Ramos, 43, farm helper and resident of Brgy. Halayhayin, Oliver Verginiza, 41, employee of the Department of Agriculture and resident of Sitio Inanihan Bgy. Halayhayin and Ronald Par, 43, canteen helper and resident of Bgy Gatid, all of Siniloan, Laguna.

He said the suspects were aboard a government-owned black Isuzu Crosswind with red plate number SKF 875 marked with "PASS SKELETAL WORKFORCE COVID 19 TASK FORCE SKF 875 " on windshield (Government Vehicle) driven by Oliver when they transacked with a poseur buyer.

"The suspects were arrested after they were caught red- handed with 5.02 grams of shabu and 16 marked ₱500 bills.

Upon body search, the suspects yielded 10 pieces of heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing 8.76 grams of shabu with a street value of ₱178", said Madrideo.

On Friday, the provincial director reported that from March 17 to April 16, they have recorded a total of 600 violators of ECQ.

Of the figure, he said 332 were violators of the RPC Art. 151, 177 of RA 11332, 45 for illegal gambling, 8 for direct assault, 9 for alarm and scandal, 8 for grave threats, 7 for Price Act and RA 9711, 4 for attempted and frustrated murder/homicide, 5 for unjust vexation and oral defamation, 1 for RA 10175 and 4 for PD 1829.
