Quezon remains COVID-19 free

LUCENA CITY-- Despite the positive cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the National Capital Region, Quezon province remains negative for the deadly virus.

This was disclosed in the latest announcement of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Grace Santiago and Provincial Health Coordinator Dr. Anneavbit Talan-de Luna.

The health officials said the latest eight Patient Under Investigation (PUIs) in the province have been tested negative for COVID-19.

Of the 83 Persons Under Monitoring (PUM), 76 were already cleared after completing home quarantine and only seven remain under observation.

They noted that the increase in number of PUMs is due to strengthened surveillance.

Cagbalete Island in Mauban, Quezon which has several resorts and among the most popular tourist destinations in the province was ordered closed for a while by Mayor Marita Llamas from foreign and local visitors to keep it free from the dreaded virus.
