Ranking NPA leader captured in Gingoog

THE Police Regional Office 10 yesterday announced the capture of a ranking New People’s Army leader in a manhunt operation in Gingoog City last Saturday.

Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Robert Roy Bahian identified the arrested suspect as Venancio Idpalina alias ‘Ka Bembem,’ described as a top officer of the NPA Guerrilla Front 4 operating in the province.

Bahian said the suspect is the subject of  at least five warrants of arrest for murder, kidnapping with serious illegal detention, multiple attempted murder and frustrated murder.

No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the revel leader accused in the murder and kidnapping with serious illegal detention charges filed against him.

Bahian sakd the suspect was tracked down in his hiding place in Purok 6 in Barangay Agay-ayan 7:30 p.m. last Saturday by local policemen led by Lieutenant Colonels Ariel Philip Pontillas, Rommel Villaflor and Anthony Jess Punzalan and Captain Joel Salo.

The policemen were assisted by local Army troops in serving one of the warrants of arrest issued against the suspect by Judge Marigel Dagani-Hugo of the Butuan City Regional Trial Court Branch 10.

The suspect was turned over to the Butuan City police shortly after his arrest.
