RIT gunmen kill US citizen in Pampanga

CITY of San Fernando, Pampanga -- A retired United States Postal Service employee was gunned down by riding-in-tandem gunmen in broad daylight along the busy national road in Bgy. Dolores the other day.

Acting Pampanga police director Senior Supt. Nicolas Salvador identified the victim as Fermin Malonzo, 60.

Investigators said the victim was on board his black Nissan Frontier pick-up (RAV-103) at 2:30 p.m. when caught in a traffic buildup. Two men on board a motorcycle overtook him and shot him repeatedly.

Malonzo was with his three cockfighting farm helpers who were at the back of the pick-up when the fatal shooting happened. None of them were hurt.

Four fired cartridges for Super .38 gun were recovered at the crime scene.

Investigators are still  determining the motive behind the killing and the identities of the suspects.

Meanwhile, two suspected drug pushers were arrested the other day in this city and Porac town.

In his report to Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, PRO3 director, Salvador identified the suspects as Roselyn Villegas, 23, and Regie Mercado, 31.

Villegas was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Dela Paz Norte and yielded six sachets of shabu.

Mercado was arrested in a separate operation in Pulung Santol, Porac. Five sachets of shabu were confiscated from him.

The two are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165.
