ANGELES CITY -- The uncle of actor Robin Padilla is set to file robbery and other charges against a police major and two other policemen here who arrested him for alleged “arrogance and unruly” behavior in Barangay Balibago last June 4.
Virgilio Carino, 65, was arrested by Police Station 4 commander Maj. Rolando Doroja, Corporal Roderick Pimentel and Patrolman Leo Esplana Jr. at the Diamond Subdivision after tricycle dirvers complained that he was preventing them from entering the said subdivision.
He was charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 after policemen allegedly found nine live ammunition for cal. 9mm, violation of election gun ban, and resistance and disobedience to a person in authority.
Sought for comments, Carino told People’s Journal/People’s Tonight he is just waiting for the resolution of the City Prosecutor’s Office regarding the case filed against him so he could post bail if a probable case is found against him.
But he disclosed that he will charge the three police officers with robbery, planting of evidence, illegal arrest and illegal detention.
Carino alleged that the body bag confiscated by the policemen from him contained P230,000 which were the proceed from selling a 100-meter lot in Tarlac several days ago. When the bag was returned to his family, he said it contained only P31,000 and that P199,000 were missing.
Asked why he had with him the said money, he replied: “Kasi kaming mga Muslim hindi mahilig mag bangko ng pera.”
For his part, Doroja said that Carino’s bag contained only P31,000 cash and it was opened in front of the suspect’s family.
But Carino said the policemen forcibly took his bag upon reaching the police station, before he was immediately placed inside the detention cell.
“Wala naman akong ginawang krimen pero pilit nila akong pinosasan at isinakay sa mobile patrol nila. Nakiusap naman ako na huwag na akong posasan at sasama ako ng mahusay. Saka hindi ko ipinagyabang na pamngkin ko si Robin Padilla.”
