SAP beneficiary, 2 others held for drinking liquor during ECQ

SAN JOSE CITY – Three men, including one who is a beneficiary of the government’s Social Amelioration Program (SAP) worth P6500, were arrested for violating the liquor ban imposed while the Enhanced Community Quarantine is in effect to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Luzon.

Nabbed were Rodelio Ballesteros, 33, of Zone 5, Bgy. Tulat; Lito Ballesteros, 41, of Zone 1, Bgy. Porais; and June Sierra, 31, of Zone 2, Bgy. Tulat.

City police head Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno said his men caught the trio while having a drinking spree at the house of SAP beneficiary Rodelio Ballesteros on Sunday at 11:20 a.m.

Bruno said the arrest was made a day after Rodelio received his P6,500 SAP subsidy from the city social welfare office on Saturday.

Appropriate charges have been filed against the arrested suspects before the city prosecutor’s office here.
