VIGAN, Ilocos Sur -- Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will announce on January 2021 if she will run for president.
In an interview after the campaign caravan, here, Duterte-Carpio said she is setting deadline to herself and to end speculations that she will be the next candidate of the administration.
“Depende sa circumstances. Siguro gawa nalang tayo ng deadline on January 2021,” she said when asked about her decision to join.
However, the chairman of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago appealed to her colleagues in the party not to talk about the matter as she wanted to concentrate on the senatorial campaign.
Since the start of the campaign last week, the mayor has been accompanying the candidates in different provinces.
She also said, early announcement will put her in a spot because those aspiring to run for President in 2022 will start to hate her and President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Sinabi ko na I wish that they would not talk about me like that dahil yung may gustong presidente, as early as now ilalagay nila ako sa number one sa hate list nila,” Duterte-Carpio said.
“Ang ginagawa ko lang naman is tinutulungan ko yung presidente which fortunately is ang tatay ko. Tinutulungan ko siya to get through the remaining three years ng administration,” she said.
The presidential daughter also said she wanted to ask guidance and wisdom from God before making a decision about the presidency.
“Yung pagtakbo kasi ng presidente, hindi yan overnight na desisyon. It needs money, machinery, and importante sa lahat is yung wisdom and guidance ng Diyos dahil magiging mahirap yan kung hindi para sayo yan at magiging madali lang yan kung intended ng Diyos para sayo,” she stressed.
In various campaign rallies, Duterte-Carpio is always being teased, to be the next president of the country come 2022.
“Lagi nila akong kinakantiyawan, mga kasama namin sa HNP at mga senatoriable. Masyado pang malayo ang 2022, marami pang mangyayari bukas, sa susunod na araw sa susunod na taon,” Duterte-Carpio said.
For the meantime, the presidential daughter said she will concentrate on campaigning for the candidates of HNP.
The regional party is supporting and endorsing candidates for senator former MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino; former police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa; former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go; reelectionists Sonny Angara; Cynthia Villar; JV Ejercito and Koko Pimentel; Ilocos Gov. Imee Marcos; former Sens. Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla Jr.; Taguig City Rep. Cayetano and Maguindanao Rep. Dong Mangudadatu and formerjournalist Jiggy Manicad.
