CANDELARIA, Quezon — Police operatives on Saturday arrested a female store helper for selling fake and overpriced isopropyl alcohol at Sto. Nino Subdivision, Bgy. Malabanban Norte in this town.
Maricel Mendoza, 40, married and resident of Bgy. Bantilan, Sariaya was held after handing the product to policemen who pretended to be alcohol buyers, said Col. Audie Madrideo, the Quezon police director.
Madrideo said the test buy was carried out by joint elements of Provincial Intelligence Branch and Candelaria police station, both under Major Gaylor Pagala at 3:20 p.m.
Pagala said the cops accosted Mendoza after receiving two bottles containing one liter of the fake alcohol each in exchange for marked money.
He said the seized evidence triggered a legal search at the store which yielded 10 gallons (4 liter each), 180 plastic bottles (250ml each), 108 plastic bottles (500ml each), assorted bottle cups, and 384 label sticker of isoprophyl alcohol unscented 70% solution and marked money.
Pagala said the product was made out of lambanog and ethyl.
Pagala said store owner Josefina Cantos, along with Mendoza, will also be charged with violations of Section 11 of RA 3720. PHOTO:
