Police Regional Office 2 yesterday released the computerized facial sketches of the two suspects in the killing of 49-year-old former New People’s Army leader-turned-National Democratic Front peace consultant Randy Malayao Jr. inside a bus terminal in Aritao, Nueva Viscaya last Wednesday.
The gunman was described as 5’4” to 5’6” tall, between 25-30 years old, of medium-built, fair-complexioned and wearing a gray jacket with hood and maong pants. His accomplice who drove their getaway motorcycle is between 5’3”to 5’6” tall, light-built, between 20 to 25 years old, and wearing a yellow T-shirt and a brown shorts.
PRO2 director Chief Superintendent Jose Mario M. Espino said the two are still being tracked down by members of the Special Investigation Task Group Malayao as he appealed to the anyone who witnessed the killing to give them more information that will lead to the identification and arrest of the assassins.
Espino said Malayao, a resident of Barangay Minanga Norte in San Pablo, Isabela, was killed inside a Victory Liner bus with plate no. ATA-9361 which stopped at the CCQ Bus Terminal in Aritao town.
He said a co-passenger of the victim has become a “person of interest” after he immediately transferred to another bus after the shooting. Police are checking the whereabouts of the male passenger.
According to Espino, witnesses said the killing took place shortly after the bus driver and the other passengers stopped at the terminal to have their snack while the victim remained in his seat.
Minutes later, the two suspects arrived on a black Yamaha Mio motorcycle and the back-rider climbed the bus and shot the victim twice killing him on the spot.
