POLICE are eyeing the involvement of drug-crazed criminals in the killing of a 16-year old beautiful teenager believed to have been raped before her face was skinned on Monday.
An autopsy showed the victim was stabbed once in the neck, 20 times on the trunk and nine times in her left and right upper extremities.
Police Regional Office 7 director, Chief Superintendent Debold M. Sinas said he has ordered the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office to leave no stones unturned in the investigation into the case of Christine Lee Silawan and see to it that justice is immediately served to her and her family.
“Exhaust all efforts to solve the case. This is a heinous crime which must be solved immediately,” the Central Visayas police director told Lapu-Lapu City Police Office director, Senior Supt. Lemuel Obon.
An initial investigation by the Lapu-Lapu City police showed that at around 5:57 p.m. Sunday, the victim and her friend Ryan Uba attended a mass at the Sacred Heart Church in Pajac, Lapu-lapu City..
After the mass, the two bought and ate ‘balut’ sold by a vendor in the area. Uba then left the victim to answer the call of nature.
When he returned to see his friend, Uba said he was surprised to see she was no longer in the area. The next morning , the victim was found dead, half-naked with half of her face peeled off showing the half side of her skull.
Sinas said onlookers who gathered at the spot where the victim’s body was found claimed they heard their dogs barking many times at the crime scene at around 1:50 a.m. Monday.
Post-mortem investigators believe the victim could have just been dumped by the killers in the area to mislead investigation. As of press time, investigators are checking CCTV cameras installed in different establishments including the Sacred Heart Church in Sitio Mahayahay as part of their effort to look for clues that will lead them to the identification of the killers.
An autopsy showed that the victim was stabbed once in the neck, 20 times on the trunk and nine times in her left and right upper extremities.
There were also indications the victim was sexually abused. The victim was identified by her mother based on the clothes she was wearing prompting the examining doctor to collect DNA samples on her body to scientifically establish her identity.
Experts have also collected the victim’s fingernail clippings for DNA examination as well as a male underwear at the scene which is now being subjected to a semen analysis and DNA examination.
The body of Silawan, a Grade 9 student at the Mactan High School residing in Sitio Dapdap in Soong, Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City was discovered in an empty lot in Sitio Mahayahay in nearby Bgy. Bankal 6:45 a.m. Monday the official said.
