A BUY-BUST operation in Baclayon, Bohol early evening Monday resulted in the arrest of a suspected big-time street-level drug dealer after he sold 50 grams of suspected shabu worth P340,000 to an undercover officer, Police Regional Office 7 director, Chief Superintendent Debold M. Sinas said yesterday.
The official identified the arrested suspect as Calvin Laon, a 27-year old jobless resident of Barangay Montan in Baclayon municipality who is considered as a ‘street-level drug target’ of the Bohol Police Provincial Office.
Sinas said that a team of policemen led by Senior Inspector Jojit Mananquil arrested the suspect shortly after he handed a packet of drugs to a poseur. When frisked, the suspect yielded a total of 10 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine,’ the P1,000 marked bill he received from the undercover agent and a cell phone he used in making the illegal drug transaction.
Police also impounded the suspect’s motorcycle with plate no. GD 11496.
The suspect is now facing non-bailable charges for selling and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Sinas said.
