Senior Supt. Ritchie M. Posadas, acting provincial police director, identified the slain suspect as Fernando Yumul Sayson, alias “Pandong”, of Bgy. San Pablo, Tarlac City.
Posadas said Sayson died on the spot due to bullet wounds in different parts of the body.
Senior Insp. Joseph B. Morden, Ramos town police chief, said the suspect pulled out a gun and engaged the operating team in a firefight to evade arrest at 11:30 p.m.
Morden said the suspect detected that he was dealing with an undercover cop during the buy-bust operation which prompted him to fight his way out.
Posadas said the suspect was included on the list of PNP’s top personalities involved in illegal drugs in the province.
A SOCO team from Tarlac PNP Provincial Crime Laboratory led by Senior Insp. Angel Angeles recovered at the crime scene a cal. .38 Armscor revolver, three live bullets and three spent shells for the gun, an undetermined amount of money and five plastic sachets of suspected shabu.
