
Teacher arrested for illegal recruitment
CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur – Police yesterday arrested in Baguio City a private school teacher for alleged illegal recruitment.
Arrested was Melvin Jose Alamag, 49.
Joint personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Region 1, and the Nueva Ecija and Ilocos Sur PNP arrested Alamag in his hiding place at Purok Sajio, Loakan Proper, Baguio City.
Alamag was sereved a warrant of arrest for illegal recruitment involving economic sabotage issued by Judge Trese Wenceslao of the Cabanatuan City Regional Trial Court.
A separate warrant of arrest for estafa was issued against the suspect by Judge Eleanor Teodora Marbas-Vizcarra of the Third Judicial Region, Regional Trial Court, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija.
Complainants told the police that the suspect offered them jobs abroad. They said Alamag asked for a recruitment fee.
After the payout, the victims later found out that the jobs overseas were non-existent.
According to the police, Alamag was the leader of the “Alamag Group” involved in illegal recruitment in the province of Nueva Ecija.
