Volunteer doctors, nurses off to measles-hit areas in Cavite

February 24, 2019

A party-list congressman yesterday said he will deploy teams of volunteer doctors and nurses to Cavite and other areas to support the Department of Health  and local government officials in the campaign to stop the spread of measles.

“These volunteer health professionals have been supporting our health services projects. If their numbers need augmenting, we will ask more of their colleagues to join in our efforts to vaccinate the unvaccinated and ease the suffering of those who have been infected,” said House Assistant Majority Leader and 1-PACMAN Rep. Mikee Romero.

The congressman also disclosed that AirAsia will “coordinate with the DoH should there be any necessity and urgency to transport measles vaccines to the Visayas and Mindanao.”

“It is part of AirAsia’s corporate social responsibility to help Filipinos in situations such as this,” said Romero.

As member of the House Committee on Youth and Sports Development, Rep. Romero asked the Sangguniang Kabataan nationwide to help the DoH find the children and adults who need vaccination against measles.
