CAMP Gen. Miguel Malvar, Batangas -- A 38-year-old unemployed man died after being shot during the implementation of a warrant of arrest in Bgy. Baguilawa, Bauan town, Monday night.
A report to Batangas police director Senior Supt. Edwin A. Quilates by the Bauan Municipal Police Station head cop Supt. Joemar Q. Libiano identified the suspect as Jonny Reodique, alias Jonny, with live-in partner, of Sitio Dihikan, Bgy. San Antonio, Kalayaan, Laguna, and presently residing in Bgy. Baguilawa.
Libiano said joint operatives of the Bauan police and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 4A conducted an operation against the suspect at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 in this village.
He said Reodique, who was encircled by the authorities at the scene, fired at the approaching warrant officers, who retaliated, hitting Reodique in different parts of the body. He was rushed to Bauan Doctors Hospital where he was pronounced dead by an attending physician.
Reodique, the local police chief said, is a former member of the Bonet Gang, the gun for hire group operating in 3rd and 4th districts of Laguna and Polilio Island, Real and Infanta, Quezon and listed no. 2 most wanted person of Kalayaan MPS.
The suspect has warrants of arrest for murder and violation of Republic Act 10591 under Criminal Case No. SC-22281, respectively, he added.
Police recovered a cal. .38 revolver, two live ammo, three cartridge casings loaded on the said firearm and three cartridge casings for cal. .45 at the scene.
