POLICE Regional Office 9 director Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis D. Licup yesterday announced the capture of four men wanted for murder and illegal possession of firearms and explosives during an operation in Zamboanga Sibugay.
The official said suspect Rasol Canda was arrested on the strength of a warrant for murder by members of the Ipil Municipal Police Station and the Regional Intelligence Unit 9 during a manhunt operation in Purok Gemilina, Bgy. Tenan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, at around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Licup said Canda is the no. 3 most wanted person in Ipil town and is the subject of a warrant of arrest with no bail recommended by the Ipil Regional Trial Court Branch 9.
He said Canda’s brother Janury, 29, and Asing Basaluddin, 28, were also arrested during the same operation after they yielded a hand grenade and a caliber .45 pistol.
The fourth identified as Gerich Gandasan, the no. 3 most wanted person in Sibutad, Zamboanga del Norte, was arrested by local policemen in Bgy. Ayala, Zamboanga City, at 8 p.m. Monday. Licup said the 21-year old Gandasan, a poultry farm laborer residing in Bgy. Sipaloc in Sibutad, is the subject of a warrant for murder with no bail recommended by the Dipolog City RTC Branch 8 in Zamboanga del Norte.
Licup said all four suspects are now being held at the Ipil police detention facility. He said Canda and Gandasan will be presented to the proper court for issuance of detention order while the two other suspects will be charged for illegal possession of explosives and firearm and ammunition.
