CAMP SIMEON OLA, Legazpi City – Police on Tuesday arrested a 22-year-old woman who tried to abduct a 12-year-old boy in Sipocot, Camarines Sur.
Suspect Elena Jodilla of Bagumbayan, Naga City was arrested by chasing barangay tanods.
PNP regional office spokesperson Chief Insp. Maria Luisa Calubaquib said the suspect attempted to kidnap Alexander, not his real name, a Grade 4 elementary student in the town.
The boy was able to escape his abductors and immediately sought the help of the village watchmen.
Jodilla was about to flee from the pursuing barangay officials when left by her companions who hurriedly boarded a white Sports Utility Vehicle and sped away.
When frisked, barangay officials found from the suspect two small plastic sachets of shabu.
Chief Insp. Edgar Moralleda of the Sipocot Municipal Police Station said charges of kidnapping and violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against the arrested suspect.
In the past years, there were reports of abduction of children in Albay and Camarines Sur by alleged traders of human organs but this remained unproven.
