Zamboanga cops seize P7.1M shabu

AGENTS of the Zamboanga City Police Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit on Thursday arrested a suspected big-time drug trafficker in Western Mindanao during a buy-bust operation which led in the confiscation of around P7.1 million worth of shabu, Police Regional Office 9 director, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis D. Licup announced yesterday.

The official identified the  suspect as Ricky Hamis Hassan, a 35-year old resident of Wingo Drive, Pantano, Barangay San Roque in Zamboanga City.

He said  the suspect was arrestedby the local police under Senior Supt. Thomas Joseph Martir  shortly after he sold shabu to an undercover officer in Wingo Drive 3 p.m. Thursday. Recovered from his possession were 21 large plastic sachets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ and the P200,000 worth of boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.

Licup said  the suspect is now facing a non-bailable case for sale and possession of dangerous drugs act under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
