BUILDERS Warehouse-UST plays Technological Institute of the Philippines today in the resumption of PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Reigning UAAP MVP Soulemane Chabi Yo spearheads the Growling Tigers, who are making their return in the developmental ranks, in their 3 p.m. game with the Engineers.
Aldin Ayo, who is on his third year as UST coach, stressed that they are using the tournament to develop their maturity in the off-season.
“Yun naman ang sadya namin dito sa D-League, na mas mag-mature pa ang mga players namin,” said Ayo.
The Tigers will also parade UAAP Rookie of the Year Mark Nonoy and Rhenz Abando, while CJ Cansino, who missed last season’s campaign as he recovers from an ACL injury, will also make his PBA D-League debut.
UST will also unveil a bumper crop of rookies led by Bismarck Lina, who is a cousin of current NorthPort mainstay Kevin Ferrer.
TIP, for its part, can provide a good acid test for the UAAP Season 82 second placers with a dangerous crew led by Senegalese center Papa Ndiaye and forwards Bryan and Ivan Santos.
In other games, RK Ilagan will be at the forefront of APEX Fuel Mindanao-SSC-R’s campaign against AMA Online Senior High at 1 p.m.
SeaOil-FEU and Family Mart-Enderun clash in the day’s final match at 5 p.m.
Ilagan is expected to lead a rebuilding Stags team which will be without ace gunner Allyn Bulanadi.
JM Calma, Ken Villapando, Romel Calahat, and Jessie Sumoda are also expected to pick up the slack for APEX Fuel Mindanao-SSCR.
