Ateneo tops University Athletic Association of the Philippines 3x3 crown

ATENEO bested University of Santo Tomas, 19-13, to rule the UAAP 3x3 basketball tournament yesterday at the Ayala Malls Feliz in Pasig.

Ivorian Ange Kouame held on his own against the Growling Tigers’ Soulemane Chabi Yo of Benin with 11 points, while Thirdy Ravena added six points as the Blue Eagles completed a perfect 8-0 campaign.      

The kings of men’s basketball Ateneo downed La Salle, 15-7, to make it to the Finals. The Blue Eagles also defeated the Green Archers during the preliminaries, 21-13.

UST turned back University of the Philippines, 14-11, in the other semifinals pairing.

In the women’s division, National University made it two in a row following a  21-3 shellacking of Adamson in the championship match.

Jack Danielle Animam led the Lady Bulldogs with eight points while Ria Nabalan and Congo’s Rhena Itesi each scored six markers.

NU, which currently the toast of women’s basketball, went perfect in nine games.

The Lady Bulldogs overpowered UST, 19-5, to forge a Finals rematch with Lady Falcons, a 14-12 winner over University of the East in the other semifinals pairing.
