Baby Tamaraws eye UAAP finals vs Baby Falcons
FAR Eastern University-Diliman seeks to arrange a title showdown with Nazareth School of National University as it tangles with Adamson today in the UAAP high school boys basketball step-ladder semifinals at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Despite having the twice-to-beat advantage for finishing No. 2 in the eliminations, coach Allan Albano reminded his Baby Tamaraws not to be complacent in the 3 p.m. match with the Baby Falcons.
“Sa step-ladder kasi, iyan ang pinakamasarap sa UAAP, yung makapasok ka sa semifinals. Pero iyan ang pinakamahirap na manalo sa step-ladder,” said Albano.
“Message sa amin yung game namin (against the Bullpups) na hindi kami puwedeng mag-relax. So kailangan, pagbutihan at paghandaan namin ang Adamson,” he added.
FEU actually has won 12 straight games before dropping its final elimination match to NSNU, 73-80, last Feb. 5.
The Bullpups clinched their ninth consecutive Finals appearance after completing a perfect 14-0 elims campaign.
The Baby Tamaraws may have swept their head-to-head with the Baby Falcons, but the step-ladder is a different story.
The last team to make it to the semifinals, Adamson eliminated No. 3 Ateneo, 84-75, last Feb. 12, which turned out to be the last game before the league postponed all of its sports events due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
