ROBERT Bolick scored off Lester Prosper’s goal tending violation, lifting NorthPort to a 110-108 win over Columbian Dyip in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Following an inbound play, Bolick drove in and went for a layup in front of the Columbian’s import who touched the rim before the ball hit it.

After a quick review, the missed layup was counted, enabling the Batang Pier to shatter the 108-all count with still 2.8 seconds remaining.

The Dyip were able to complete an inbound play but were unfortunate as Eric Camson muffed a jumper as time expired, allowing the Batang Pier to escape with their eighth victory in 10 outings.

The Dyip, playing an inspired game following their conquest of San Miguel Beer last time around, dragged the Batang Pier into a battle  of changing fortunes the whole game, but eventually lost no thanks to that Prosper goal tending infraction.

The Dyip, who fell to 2-7, actually tied the count at 108-all on CJ Perez’s putback off Camson’s baseline jumper with 7.8 seconds, before Bolick came through with that drive.

Mo Tautuaa topscored for NorthPort with 23 points that went with five rebounds and six assists, while Kevin Ferrer and Bolick finished with 21 points each.

Nico Elorde chipped in 14 points, incuding three straight triples which gave NorthPort a 108-103 cushion with 2:12 remaining.

Meanwhile, San Miguel Beer has tapped NBA veteran Chris McCullough in a desperate move meant to bolster its campaign and stay in contention for a playoff spot.

The Beermen will parade McCullough on Friday against NLEX at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Only 24, McCullough spent three seasons in the NBA from 2015 to 2018 where he played for the Brooklyn Nets and the Washington Wizards. He also had stints in the NBA G-League, China and Puerto Rico.
