Jack Animam of National University is doing her part in the country's battle against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
And the five-time UAAP Women's Basketball is choosing to help out her hometown of Malolos, Bulacan.
Upon knowing that the medical staff of Bulacan Medical Center badly need personal protective equipment and basic necessities, the 21-year-old decided to start a fundraising drive for them.
"Yung BMC is near us kasi and I saw yung dami ng patients that come in sa kanila. Naisip namin na why not gumawa ng fundraising para sa mga frontliners dito sa Bulacan," said Animam, who was part of the Gilas Pilipinas Women's team that won gold in bout 5-on-5 and 3x3 basketball tournaments of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
"Just a little help para mapunan yung mga sakripisyo nila."
Being part of the national team, Animam also knows that this is one of her responsibilities -- to help out in a time of national crisis.
"Of course being part of the national team does not mean na you only have to do your part sa court. You have to do your part as a Filipino citizen lalo na kung mayroon naman ka namang platform na magagamit," she continued.
So far, Animam has raised PHP 38,500 with donations coming from all corners.
