Chiang Kai Shek strikes

SIX down, two to go for Chiang Kai Shek College.

Ching Kai Shek proved steadier in the  endgame to subdue Jubilee Christian Academy, 61-56, and extend its winning streak to six games in  the  Tanduay Athletics-Metro Manila Tiong Lian (MMTL) Alumni 40 years old and above  basketball championship at the Tanduay gym last Friday.

Lincoln  Lim scored six of his 12 points in the final eight minutes, including  a  pair of  pressure-packed free throws with 10 seconds left, to seal the win for Chiang Kai Shek.

Lim’s well-contested basket also put Chiang Kai Shek ahead for good,  44-43, after Lester Ong split his free throws for  43-42 lead for Jubilee with  8:45 remaining.

Kim Ho Hui  finished  with 13 points and 10  rebounds  for Chiang Kai Shek,which  overcame  a slow start to escape  with  the win.

Daniel Dagdag had 18 rebounds and Rodel Ng  had 12 boards for Chiang Kai Shek.

Denny Ngo topscored with 15 points while Ong added 11 points and a game-high 18 rebounds in a losing  effort for Jubilee.

In the  second game, St. Peter outsteadied Philippine Cultural College, 78-74,  for its second win in seven outings.

John Palao and Rolexon  Kiat combined for 43 points for St. Peter, which  outscored  PCC,36-21 , in the third quarter.

Palao  finished with  24 points, while Kiat added 19 .

Domingo Chung  III  also had a monster game  for  St.  Peter with a triple double of  11 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Richard  Rondael  paced  PCC with 25 points  on  9-of-20 shooting, followed  by  Jowelle  Domingo with a double-double of  20 points and 18 rebounds.

PCC dropped to 0-7.

The  nine-team tournament is  organized by MMTL president Christian Tan.

Tournament director is Johnny Tam, while commissioner is Horacio Lim.
