Cignal, Petron quintets in big D-League clash

CIGNAL-Ateneo and Petron-Letran dispute solo second place in the Aspirants’ Group today in the resumption of the PBA D-League at the Ynares Sports Arena.

The two teams are tied at joint third place, together with Che’Lu Bar and Grill at 3-1 and a victory in their 2 p.m. match will definitely bolster their playoff chances.

The winner will move within reach of co-leaders University of Santo Tomas and St. Clare-Virtual Reality, both unbeaten in four contests.

Skidding teams Batangas-EAC (1-3) and Go for Gold-CSB (1-3) part ways at 12 p.m., while Diliman College-Gerry’s Grill (3-1) and Metropac-San Beda (3-1) both aim to rise in the Foundation Group at 4 p.m.

For the Blue Eagles, it’s a matter of shaking off the cobwebs after being on the shelf for three weeks.

Cignal-Ateneo last played on March 14 as it drubbed AMA Online Education, 111-81.

Ange Kouame came through with 22 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks in that bounce back win, where coach Tab Baldwin chided his Blue Eagles to maintain their focus regardless of who their opponent is.
