
Dragons clobber Pirates, 82-61

DILIMAN College flaunted its might throughout to roll back Lyceum of the Philippines-Batangas, 82-61, and keep a share of the lead with Centro Escolar University in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Season 3 basketball tournament at the Olivarez College gum in Parañaque.
Four mainstays, led by McArthur Enriquez and Kevine Gandjeto, provided the offensive muscle in the Blue Dragons' league-best 10-1 win-loss record.
Enriquez came away.with 14 points, while Gandjeto added a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Quezon City-based team, which remained in a tie for first place with CEU ahead of their showdown for the top seeding on Nov. 22.
Backing up Enriquez and Gandjeto were Robbie Darang, who contributed 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists; and Johnnel Bauzon, who had 11 markers.
Lyceum dropped to 3-8 overall.
Diliman College coach Rensy Bajar lauded the dedication and hard work by his players but also urged them to keep their focus in the bigger games ahead.
“Winning 10 of our 11 games in the eliminations is already a big achievement. I am proyd of what the boys have shown so far,” said Bajar, who also led the Blue Dragons to the title in the Fr. Martin's Cup over former NCAA champion Letran College early this month.
“But we have to maintain our focus on the coming games, starting with the battke against CEU for top seed next week,” added Bajar, also the first assistant coach of PBA legend Pido Jarencio in NorthPort Batang Puer in the PBA.
Bajar also reiterated his gratitude to the Diliman College community, led by forner Sen. Nikki Coseteng, and Gerry's Grill, thru Jerome Ngo and Wilson Sia, for their continued support to the team.
