ANOTHER game, another win for Diliman College.
But this time, it wasn't easy.
Diliman scored the game's last eight points, including back-to-back three pointers in the final two minutes to escape with a 79-77 win over Olivarez College in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Season 3 at the Olivarez College gym in Parañaque.
Joseph Brutas and Aevin Coquia nailed consecutive triples to tie the score at 77-all and Robbie Darang delivered the go-ahead basket with 18 seconds left to complete the come-from-behind victory for the Blue Dragons.
Coquia, the “Gerry's Grill Best Olayer of theGame”, preserved the Blue Dragons’ fourth straight win -- and fifth overall in six matches -- by swiping the ball away in the Sea Lions’ final offensive .
More importantly, the win enabled Diliman to forge a three-way tie for the top spot with Olivarez and Centro Escolar University at 5-1 at the end of the elimination round.
“Another job well done by our players. They are really determined to win the game and did not give up even after falling behind,” said Diliman coach Rensy Bajar.
Bajar, also the first assistant coach of NorthPort Batang Pier in the PBA, thanked Diliman College president Sen. Nikki Coseteng and team spinsors Jerome Ngo and Wilson Sia of Gerry's Grill for their support.
Import Kevin Gandjeto and John Mahari shared scoring honors for Diliman with 18 points apiece.
