Dragons win in style
DILIMAN College lived up to its high billing as the team to watch, posting a record 126-71 win over newcomer St. Joseph to launch its campaign on a bright note in the UCBL Season 3 at the Olivarez College gym in Parañaque City last Monday.
Handled by multi-titled coach Rensy Bajar, the Blue Dragons unveiled another gem of an import in Kevin Gandjeto of Benin to dismantle St. Joseph en route to a record win in their season opener.
Gandjeto had an impressive debut with 20 points, six rebounds, five blocks and two assists for Diliman.
John Mahari added 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists and McArthur Enriquez contributed 13 points and seven assists to underscore Diliman’s strong showing.
The 126 points made by the Quezon City-based Blue Dragons is also the all-time high scoring output in the three-year-old league.
“It’s really a good start for the team. The boys are determined to give us a winning start. Hopefully, we can continue to perform well,” said Bajar, who also serves as first assistant coach of PBA legend Pido Jarencio in NorthPort Batang Pier.
“The 55-point win over St..Joseph should give us a headstart. It’s really an inspiring victory,” added Bajar.
Bajar again lauded the support of the Diliman College community, headed by former Sen. Nikki Coseteng, and Gerry’s Grill, led by Jerome Ngo and Wilson Sia, for their continued support.
